My name is Olivia Marie Cupp-Korb. This is the history of my name.

In Latin, my name means olive tree, which is kinda ironic seeing as I’m barely 5' 4" and olive trees grow anywhere between 10 to 40 feet. In America Olivia is a popular kids show that airs Saturday mornings on Nickelodeon. As well as a book series about an adventurous pig.

I am the first person in my family to possesses this name, but my middle name has deeper roots. Marie is a very common name, the most used middle name in the US. It has dark meanings such as sea of bitterness and sorrow and ruthless rebellion. To my family, it is a cherished name, given to both of my great-grandmothers.

I was only fortunate enough to meet one, Violet Marie Black. A strong-willed, hard-working, and beautiful woman. A teacher by trade…mother, wife, and dairy farmer by choice. She was rarely sad or bitter despite her name’s meaning but she was all be it rebellious. She left her job to marry the man she loved, without the approval of her family.

I do have another family member donning the name Marie. My great aunt, Marie Korb. She holds all meaning of her name, never hiding her emotions and going after everything she wanted in life. She was catholic and decided to marry outside of her religion causing her mother and father to disown her.

So I’ve been given some pretty big shoes to fill and I aspire to be like both these women. I want to be a peaceful storm. I will go after all my ambitions in life, never letting others stop me. All while bringing peace into the world and making sure I never overwhelm myself with my dreams. I am Olivia Marie Cupp-Korb…the peaceful storm that no one is ready for.
